Finding principles: Matthew 11, 13, Mark 4-5, Luke 7-8

Matthew 11, 13, Mark 4-5, Luke 7-8

Matthew 13: 31-32- a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field:
Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.

I really liked this quote because I feel the principle that is being shown here is that through small and simple things are great things brought to pass.Especially because the "grain of mustard seed" is used in relation to faith and how if we just had enough faith as a grain of mustard seed then we would be able to accomplish great things such as moving mountains. I believe this also applies to how we are as people in relation to our true potential. Because many times we start doubting ourselves and our abilities, but we are children of a loving Heavenly Father and although we may seem small right now, we definitely have the potential to become great, and already are in the sight of God. I think this principle can help us throughout our lives as we are given callings or new opportunities. Because if we just exercise a particle of faith we can overcome any task that is put before us. This sometimes will take time, but life is a process and we have the opportunity to grow.

Mark 5:36-  Be not afraid, only believe
The principle I feel correlates with this invitation from the Lord is that Faith and Fear can not reside in the same place at the same time. So when we are fearful in our hearts about a specific issue we must exercise faith to cast out the fear. because if we have faith in our hearts it will allow no room for fear. Also we don't need to be afraid if we are relying on the Lord and remembering in whom we have trusted. this applies to every aspect of our lives, because there are many opportunities to be nervous about the future. But if we trust in the Lord and believe that things will work out for the best then we will become comforted because of our faith. I know that when I was about to start my mission I was very worried to go to Brazil, but then one day I realized that because the Lord had called me there he would definitely help and protect me so that I could be successful. I love this principle in relation to faith, because our lives are more peaceful when we realize that the Lord is in charge, He has a plan, and that he will bless us as long as we remain faithful.

Mark 4: 17 And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word’s sake, immediately they are offended.

I believe this scripture is teaching the principle that in order for us to endure to the end we must "root" ourselves in the gospel of Jesus Christ by strengthening our testimony deeply into the principles of the Gospel. So that when challenges arrive that we will be ready and unswayed in our testimonies and convictions. Many times in our lives there will be moments in which temptations or challenges will come, and it isn't enough for us to choose in the moment how we will react. Because we will need to already have a strong enough testimony so that we can rely on the testimony that we do have, so we aren't trying to rely on a source of water that isn't there. As an example if there is a famine we will already need to have our well full of water because it will be too late for us to start searching for water in the moment of our thirst.

Luke 7:42,43-
42 And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most?
43 Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged.

Matthew 11:And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.
15 He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Where much is given much is expected

Mark 4: 17 And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word’s sake, immediately they are offended.

Mark 5:34 And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole;

Mark 5:36-  Be not afraid, only believe.

Luke 7:42,43-
42 And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most?
43 Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged.

50 And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.
